Sixteen (16) players enjoyed a “cooler”, breezy day at The Beav with temps only reaching near 90!  The Governor’s team won the Front (-5) and Total (-7).  Marty Miller’s team won the Back (-4).   Pat Steiner (72), Don Baker (76), James Scarberry (77), Jim Weber (77), Marc Worton (79) and Donnie Barton (79) were the low scores today.

*** Marc Worton shot his second career round in the 70’s today (79) – both times while playing with The Governor.  Today’s round featured a chip-in birdie AND AN ALBATROSS (DOUBLE-EAGLE) “2” ON THE PAR-5 HOLE #6 TODAY!!!  Congratulations Marc!!!

Twenty-three (23) players played through steady rains and a saturated course.  Putting and chipping was extremely difficult due to the rain-soaked course.  Tim Steiner’s team won the Front (+3) and Total (+7).  Pat Steiner’s team won the Back (+1).  Tim Steiner (74), Pat Steiner (78) and Bill Kushay (78) were the only players in the Sub-80 category today.

AROUND THE HORN:

> Lt. Governor Donnie Barton continues to have a month of bad luck.  On Saturday (6/23/2018), Donnie shot his low round of the year (74) but came up on the short end of the stick again.  Five players played in an “Army” match pitting 3 players vs. 2 players on every hole based on tee shot location, with a low-ball and high-ball point per hole.  In addition to Donnie’s 74, Pat Steiner (74), Bill Young (77), Mex Sanchez (77) and Bob Carney (80) rounded out the group.  We are hoping to get 12-16 players on Saturdays in the 10:00am time slot (sign-up by 9:45), and we will have an advanced sign-up sheet in the Pro Shop each week so we have an idea of how many players plan to show up.

> Max Tissue’s team which included Hawk, Jim Hart and Diane Brining set a new record today.  Their combined “age” was 317.  We will let you figure out how old everyone must be!

> Dr. Smirnoff didn’t bet Mex Sanchez today (partly because Mex was his Captain).  Smirnoff had a nice round of 77, which beat Mex by 1-shot, and helped lead their team to victory today!  Now that Smirnoff has had a few weeks from his “detox sessions”, his game has drastically improved!  Actually, it wasn’t detox – just a bad back which is much better now!

> BBB was not a Captain today – which is rare.  But after shooting 76 with three birdies, he will probably be back in the Captains’ Room.

> With Governor’s Cup #2 about one-third completed, Jim Young (730) is in 1st place followed by Hawk (665) and Don Baker (619).
