Temperatures soared into the low 40’s today, and winds were mild between 10-15 mph.  Greens were semi-frozen most of the day and we had a 2-minute snow squall come through.  Twenty-one (21) golfers played as 7 threesomes today.  Zack Attack’s team won the Front (-2) and Total (-5).  Pat Steiner’s team won the Back (-5) but lost the Total by 1 shot!  Pat Steiner (71) was medalist today while Tracy Piper, Bill Kushay and Hawk all shot 75’s today.  Eleven (11) players shot in the 70’s today which was good considering the semi-frozen greens!

Sonny Montgomery said he would have picked Hawk today, but Hawk never answers him when he talks to him!  Tracy Piper may have 200 points deducted from his total Governor Cup Points for “whining that he was the first pick today”!  The Review Board will look at the incident and complaint that was lodged by several members.  His team was fortunate that a 2-shot penalty was not enforced for slow play and failure to post their Front-9 score 🙂

The bad weather forecast did not stop sixteen (16) crazy “golfers” from playing today – winds 25-30 mph and temps in the high 30’s.  Dirk Schultz’s team won the Front (+1) and Total (Even).  Chris Bushey’s team rebounded from a shaky start to win the Back (-2).  Dirk Schultz (75) and Sonny Montgomery (75) were the medalists today as a total of 7 players shot in the 70’s.

The weather forecast looks a little better for tomorrow (Thursday, 3/15/2018) for those of you that were not “Beaver Bad” today.  Sign-up will be 10:30am for the 2-ball gross gang tomorrow.

Will the Winter just quit please????   Twelve (12) golfers played on a cold but calm day at The Beav.  Mike Tritsch’s team won the Front (Even) and Total (+5).  Max Tissue’s team won the Back (+3).  Donnie “El Segundo” Barton (76), Hawk (76), Pat Steiner (79) and Bobby “Mex” Sanchez (79) were the only players to break 80 today.

Donnie Barton leap-frogged Max Tissue to move back into 2nd place in The Governor’s Cup standings.  Mike Tritsch stayed in 10th place but continued his ascent and is closing in on James Scarberry quickly for 9th place.

Nineteen (19) brave souls persevered through one of the toughest days of the year.  It was overcast, cold and very windy.  It was also Screw The Governor Day at The Beav!  Captain Max Tissue had a loaded team (with basically 4 captains) and they dominated the action with Even, +3 and +3.  Steve Ligi’s team rebounded from a disastrous Front (+10) and shot +3 (Back) to keep Max from getting a clean sweep!

There were two players in the 70’s today: Pat Steiner (The Governor) = 77 and 3 birdies and Rod Steiner = 79 and 3 birdies.  Unfortunately for both, they birdied the same holes (4, 9 and 18) and cancelled each other out.  Steve Ligi (birdie on Hole 11) and Jim Hart (birdie on Hole 12) were the beneficiaries of the brothers cancelling each other out!  Bobby (Mex) Sanchez and Chuck Waltemire also cancelled each other out on the difficult Hole 14 playing straight into the wind!

TJ Jones played in his customary “shorts” even though the wind chill was in the teens!  (see pic below)

Don Baker took one for the team on Hole 16, hitting his second shot from the drainage culvert (and almost hitting the shot on the green!).  (see video below)

Seventeen (17) players battled a cold, windy day at The Beav.  Mike Tritsch’s team won the Front (Even) and Total (+1).  Pat Steiner’s team had major putting issues but managed to win the Back (-3).  Mike Tritsch easily won medalist honors today with a 74.  Only six (6) players were able to break 80 today!

Randy “The Creature” Cree and Max Tissue both came “back to earth” today in their scoring, but Max was able to ride Mike Tritsch’s coattails to victory and move into 2nd place in The Governor’s Cup!  Also in The Governor’s Cup, Mike Tritsch has now picked up 400 points in the past two weeks and is currently in 10th place.  The Top-24 players in the Governor’s Cup are listed at the bottom of this page.

Six (6) players showed up on probably the nicest Winter day that we’ve had in several weeks!  The weatherman apparently scared everyone away but it turned out to be a 40 degree, no wind day and quite pleasant.  The combo of Randy Cree and Max Tissue had a clean sweep (-3, -8, -11).  Pat Steiner and Donnie Barton (+3, -7, -4) got second place honors.  Zack Attack and TJ Jones snared third place honors (he-he) at (+4, -3, +1).  Captain Max Tissue and Randy Cree were medalists with 75.  Pat Steiner (76), Zack Attack (77), Donnie Barton (79) and TJ Jones (83) rounded out the “Psycho Six” scoring today.

Don’t believe the Weatherman! Tomorrow will be a good day to play – Thursday 3/8/2018, 2-Ball Gross Gang will pick-up at 10:30am.

Twenty-four (24) golfers played on a cold, overcast and windy day with temps around 40.  Zack Attack made a “cash trade” with Pat Steiner to get Dr. Smirnoff today!  Although Pat’s pick (Oaks) shot slightly better and had one more birdie, Smirnoff’s presence on Team Zack spurred that team to win the Front (-6) and Total (-5).  Pat’s team won the Back (-4) and played their last 12 holes 8-under par!  Tim Steiner (70) and Pat Steiner (73) led 11 players in the Sub-80 category today.

Jim Young is taking a two-week “sabbatical” to clear his head – he admitted that he should have selected Smirnoff today.  He spotted Smirnoff 13 shots today (and lost by 7).  Here’s a picture of the reconciled pair in the 19th Hole after the round:

It was a sunny but cold day at The Beav.  Twenty-seven (27) players battled tough conditions again with winds hovering between 15 and 25 mph.  Pat Steiner’s team won the Front (Even).  Jim Young’s team tied the Back (-1) with Hugh Morris’ team.  Jim’s team won the Total (+2).  Hugh Morris (71) and Jim Young (73) led seven (7) players in the Sub-80 category today.

Dr. Smirnoff rested today but plans to make an appearance tomorrow, so there should be more excitement and trash-talking between him and ex-Captain / best friend Jim Young.  Last week, Smirnoff came up with two big birdies to “cut” Jim Young.  We expect more excitement tomorrow between these two warriors!!!

There will be a Terrific Tuesday tomorrow (3/6/2018). It looks like it might be the only decent day for the rest of this week!

Unfortunately, the weatherman did get today’s forecast correct … temps in the 40’s and winds in the 50’s!!!  As The Governor always says, “it wasn’t that bad out there today!”.  Thirteen (13) tough (or crazy) individuals played through some interesting conditions.  To compensate for the winds, we moved everyone forward 1 tee box (and 2 tee boxes for Dirk since he had a hangover :)).  As a result, Dirk Schultz’s team had a clean sweep today!
