Fifteen (15) golfers battled semi-frozen greens and temps around 40 today.  With no “Jim Young” and no “Sledgehammers” today, The Governor had a chance to win!  Chris Rhodes’ and Sonny Montgomery’s teams won the Front (-2).  Pat Steiner’s and Tracy Piper’s teams split the Back (-3) and Total (-2).  Pat Steiner (70), Sonny Montgomery (73) and Rod Steiner (74) were the low individual scores today.

Forty-six (46) golfers played on semi-frozen greens with sunshine and temps around 45.  Jim Young’s (-3, -2, -5 Total) and Rod Steiner’s (-2, -3, -5 Total) teams dominated most of the action.  Jim Young (69) led the scoring with a round that included an eagle on Hole #6.  Mike Raley had an eagle on Hole #18 also.

Fifteen (15) golfers played on a decent late Fall day with moderate winds and temps in the low 40’s.  The course is still wet and playing long.  Jim Young’s team swept again (Even, -2, -2 Total).  Pat Steiner (73) and Greg Deck (74) were the low individual rounds today.

AROUND THE HORN:

>>  Jim Young’s recent hot streak has him in 3rd Place in the Governor’s Cup 3 Race with 1001 points.  Hawk (1089) and TJ Jones (1040) are in 1st and 2nd place respectively.

>> The Governor’s strategy today was to pick White Tee players who could hit the ball long.  It almost worked … except his teammates used their sledgehammers on the greens for putting.

Twenty-six (26) players were treated to another great day with no wind and sunshine!   Jim Young’s team (-5, Even, -5 Total) and Pat Steiner’s team (-4, Even, -4 Total) dominated the action today.  Bill Kushay’s team shot a very good (-1, +1, Even Total) today, but surprisingly enough with frozen greens, their scores were not good enough to cash!  Pat Steiner (72) and Vic Campbell (74) led the individual scoring today.

 

TJ Jones (75, 2 Clears) took a commanding 72 point lead the in Governor’s Cup 3 Race today!

 

Dr. Smirnoff had the “trifecta” today, with birdies on #3, #4 and a 50-foot birdie on #5!  Unfortunately, he pulled a hamstring celebrating his 50-foot birdie putt!  Between the hamstring and the alcohol-to-air mixture getting too rich, his sides were 37-46 today.

Thirty-six (36) golfers enjoyed another “bonus” day of good weather.  The greens were still frozen which drove up the scores, but there was no wind again!   Tink Moats’ team won the Front (-2).  Vic Campbell’s team won the Back (-2) and Total (-2).  Vic Campbell (73), Chris Bushey (73), Bill Kushay (74) and Mex “Bobby” Sanchez (75) were the low individual scores today.

 

Tomorrow’s forecast looks about the same, but Friday and Saturday look “wet” at the moment.  We expect a decent turnout tomorrow (Thirsty Thursday) based on the forecast.

 

Hawk moved back into 1st Place in the Governor’s Cup 3 Race.  His chip-in birdie on Hole 16 “cleared” and earned just enough points to overtake TJ Jones by one (1) point!  Donnie Barton is lurking in the shadows and remains within striking distance of the leaders.

The rest of the week looks “decent” and we expect to have some larger gangs as the week goes on!
