The temperatures were in the mid 80’s today and 45 golfers enjoyed a nice, late Summer afternoon at The Beav! Mike Butts’, Pat Steiner’s and Mick Billmeyer’s teams tied the Front (-3). “Hot Rod” Steiner’s team won the Back (-5). Maximum Tissue’s team won the Total (-4). Maximum Tissue (72), Mike Butts (73), Charlie Hawkins (73) and Carl Showers (74) led the individual scoring today.
AROUND THE HORN:
>> There are 5 more rounds (next week) which will count towards Governor’s Cup 2 (GC2) Standings. The GC2 will be played on Thursday, September 27, 2018.
>> Maximum Tissue currently has 1826 points and a 400 point lead in GC2 Standings. With 5 possible rounds remaining, can he break the 2,000 point barrier? The Governor (2246) and Max (2068) both broke the mark in GC1, but they played an additional 20 rounds.
>> Trish Wilburn had 8 pars through 14 holes today until she stumbled to the finish line. She still shot a helpful and respectable 83.
>> Self-appointed Rules Official Dr. Smirnoff was questioning a “drop” from a fellow competitor before The Governor stepped in and squelched the argument. Video evidence confirmed that the ball was in “abnormal conditions”.
>> Carl Showers was “golden” today. With his 74 today, he is most likely heading back to the Captains’ Room!
>> Recent graduate of the Captains’ Picking School … Mick Billmeyer learned his lessons well and made the “pick of the day” with Charlie Hawkins! The Incredible Hawk shot 73 (10 years less his age) with 5 birdies!
